CRITICAL LITERACY - Find your focus #1

WHAT IS CRITICAL LITERACY? 
Critical literacy is when you apply critical thinking to a literacy topic. It is when you question how and why a text was made.

VOCABULARY
Bias - Favouring something over another thing.
Reliable - Something you can rely/trust on.
Manipulate - Controlling.
Source - Something where you can get information from.
Authority - Someone who has power over you.
Agenda - A plan to do something.
Credible - able to believe/able to back up something.
Perspective - The way you view things or an opinion

HUMAN RIGHTS

In social studies our class is learning about Human rights. One of our tasks was to make a poster containing information about Human rights. Here is a poster that I have made.

Paper Mashey Solar System

As a group Genica, Kayla and I made a paper mashey solar system in a matter of three periods

The order of the plantes: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
Smallest planet to largest: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Earth, Venus, Mars, Mercury

F A C T S:

Mercury - A year = 88 earth days
Venus - Second brightest natural object in the sky
Earth - Only planet that can support life
Mars - Pieces of mars has fallen onto earth
Jupiter - Has 67 moons
Saturn - Has only been visited 4 times by spacecrafts
Uranus - Discovered in 1781
Neptune - Coldest planet on the solar system

The apparent "moon landing"

Till this day their are still millions of people that truly believes the moon landing back at the September 3rd, 1959 is a hoax. Here are some reasons on why people would think its fake.

E V I D E N C E  

FAKE:

- Because there is no atmosphere on the moon, we would be able to see the thousands of stars present.

- No atmosphere means no wind! so why would the american flag be waving around... Unless there is    wind present because it might've been shot in a studio like area 51. Why would the government              protect area 51 so badly unless they don't want the others to expose them.

- The shadows run diagonal, some photos shows shadows that do not run in a parallel to each other.        With the sun as their only light source, all shadows should run parallel, but they don't, so spotlights        must've been used. Spotlights were also invented in 1914, and its the government doing all of this so      they obviously would be able to afford it.
