 Date: 05/03/21

Text title: Sleep and teens

Text type: Infographic

Text creator: Nyack Hospital

Text purpose: To teach teens on how to have a goodnight sleep to improve our well-being and health

This info graphic titled 'Sleep and Teens' shows us; why sleep is important, common sleep disorders and tips.

From this I have learnt that sleep is important because it can lead you to do better in school by improving your cognitive thinking (they way you think, act, learn and remember), It can lighten your mood by decreasing your moodiness, depression and anxiety and it can not only keep your taha hinegnaro but it can also help your taha tinana by allowing your body restore its self and lessen your risk of obesity and other medical condition. Before reading this info graphic I didn't know that there are 3 common sleeping disorders us teens have they are: sleep deprivation, inadequate sleep hygiene and circadian rhythm disorder. The tip section includes: establishing a sleep routine, keeping the bedroom dark, cool and quiet and preventing to eat or do anything physical before bed.

Critical literacy:

Why are you/we reading this? I am reading this because 1) it relates to my health assessment and 2) I genuinely need to read it because I am aware that I don't sleep enough in order to maintain a healthy sleep pattern.
