JOB TITLE : Architect ( Kaihoahoa Whare )
What do you do in this job : Architects plan, design and advise on the way structures are
built. They analyse clients wants and needs before a site inspections while discussing design
ideas with the client. Like I said before, architects plan alot, they plan the interior and exterior
designs as well as the layout. They also advise the clients of the building procedure and cost

Education and experience :
To be a architect you must complete all 3 of these:
a) University of Auckland
b) Victoria University of Wellington
c) Unitec Website
For secondary education (HS):
A tertiary entrance qualification is required to enter further training. Useful subjects include
maths, physics, design and visual communication, digital technologies, and construction
and mechanical technologies.

Useful experience :
a) Design

c) Building and engineering work \
Skills and knowledge :
Knowing the different styles of architecture, great design skills, able to use specific computer
software as well as drawing and presentation techniques, knowledge of different materials and
building methods, understanding of structural principles like Newton's laws of motion

Hours of work : 50 hrs per week
Income :
Annual salary - up to 5 yrs of experience = $55k - $75k more than 5 yrs = $70k-$140k
Gross monthly income - $5,000- $7,000
Monthly deductions - a) Income tax - $2,135

c) Student loan - $809
Annual leave : 2-4 weeks
